Outcome: A properly owned Microsoft 365 tenant, DNS moved to a modern provider, licensing right-sized for each user, the whole team trained, and a written SharePoint guide for the business to operate from.

The starting point

Saha Projects is a projects-led business that had outgrown the Microsoft 365 setup it inherited through GoDaddy. The domain registration was sitting at GoDaddy, the M365 tenant was federated to GoDaddy, and the team didn’t have full control of their own environment. Setting up new mailboxes, adjusting licensing, or making basic admin changes meant going through someone else.

When the team tried to fix it themselves, the call to GoDaddy went nowhere. After weeks of back-and-forth that didn’t move the needle, Saha brought Static Computers in to take the whole thing over.

The plan

direct control. The website hosting stays on GoDaddy until it expires, so there’s no parallel project disruption.

3. Defederation from GoDaddy Microsoft 365. This is the load-bearing step. Until the domain is defederated, new mailboxes can’t be created in the new tenant. Defederation typically takes 6–48 hours to propagate, so the work is timed to avoid email disruption.

4. M365 mailboxes and licensing. New mailboxes are created with each user on the right licence. Users who need the full Office desktop apps move to Microsoft 365 Business Premium. Users who only need email and the web Office apps go onto Business Basic. The licensing stops being a one-size-fits-all bundle.

5. Team training. Once the new environment was live, Static ran the whole team through it, how the new mailboxes work, where files live, how to share, how to find what they need. The cutover wasn’t just technical; the team walked into Monday knowing exactly how the new setup worked.

6. SharePoint enablement. A separate fundamentals session and a written best-practice guide cover SharePoint document libraries, Teams for collaboration and Planner for project tracking, so the team knows how to use the environment, not just that they have it.

A SharePoint guide that stays with the business

Migration projects often end at the cut-over. The team is left with a new environment and very little written guidance on how to use it well. For Saha, we produced a comprehensive SharePoint Online best-practice guide, covering site architecture, recommended folder structures by department, group-based permissions, external sharing controls and governance. The guide stays with the business as a reference its leaders can hand to new starters, contractors and accountants.
